review 1: Let me start by saying I'm a huge Slim fan. Pained, suffering, wiseass, hubris sweating fallen angel prick. Loving it. Doesn't mean I'm not skeptical. Rendition #6 grabbed me from page one and I couldn't let go. Read it in a night. Started in hotel restaurant....powered through the Clift Hotel bar ( kadrey knows it).....sadly failed to serve me Agua Regia (did manage to pull out top shelf absinthe) and finished at sun up. Don't stop pumping out perfect prose.
review 2: Didn't seem like much happened in this story until the last few chapters, and then it was a rush. A lot of the character development felt like things that had already been dealt with in earlier books, so pretty glacial on that front. I suppose the setting got shaken up a bit, but will take anoth... moreer book to see. Maybe I have high expectations for the series, but this one felt fairly blah and didn't inspire me to keep reading like the earlier ones did. less
