review 1: Really liked it.. this is my starting comment. They way it takes you throug the development of the events that explain the two ships that crashed to the earth. It started showing the three main characters and the main nemesis. The way it's narrated it would seen to be a movie, and taking it that way I was hooked. Really enjoyed the technology that was described, and how it keeps turning in to another characters as the book progresses. Really liked it .
review 2: The Second Ship is a story about 3 teens who stumble upon a crashed alien ship. This ship gives them enhanced mental abilities. But at the same time, the government also has an alien ship (the first ship), and it would appear that ship's creators had evil intentions in mind. Both ships were battling eac
... moreh other before crashing to earth, so obviously the humans in this story will ultimately be picking sides. This was a really interesting story with some great twists and plot lines. I enjoyed the unique abilities the teens gained from the second ship, and the abilities/technologies revealed from the first ship. Things like agility, mathematics, photogenic memory, telepathy, and quick healing. I didn't like was one character who first discovered the second ship (and seemed to be fairly useless to the plot), some of the other bad guys tended to be a bit flat, and some parts of the book were just a bit too slow for me and left me drifting away from the story. Also, despite aliens, I really had to suspend my belief for quite a bit of the book as characters did stupid or impossible things.Overall, a nice adventure/thrilled/sci fi novel that kept me (mostly) entertained the whole time.I listened to the Audible version of the book and found the narrator to be excellent...one of the very few I have found no complaints with.NOTE: I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. less

I have a problem. When I start a book, I feel unnaturally compelled to finish it. That was the case with this book. It's absolutely terrible. The characters are contrived and cliche, a more evil than seems possible evil scientist, three brilliant teens with all manner of skills that gain superpowers, secret government agents, sadistic evil and unkillable bad guys... Cover this with a teenage desire for blood, guts, espionage, technobabble, hijinks, and flimsy love interests and you have this wretched book in a nutshell. I'm glad it was a freebie, because I would have been embarrassed to have paid for it. Ugh, hopefully I can wash the taste out of my mouth with some decent literature. Recommended for preteens who are looking for blood, guts, science fiction drivel. 0/5 if it were possible to rate it that low.

The Second Ship is approximately twelve hours of listening, read by MacLeod Andrews. Over 1000 audiobook reviews can be found on Audible.com. The story surrounds the visit to earth by an alien civilization. One ship is known to exist by the government and media. The Second Ship is known only to three teenagers who stumble upon it accidentally. Keeping their secret, they delve into the mystery and are suddenly gifted with unusual abilities. The purpose and implications of The Second Ship is the basis for this young adult tale as the teens scramble to avoid governmental agents, school supervision, well-intended parents, and a few bad-ass fellow students.Don’t hesitate to let the kiddies listen to a fun SciFi adventure. MacLeod Andrews is a pleasant listen with a wide variety of voices.
