review 1: Unlike many of the reviewers, I did not buy this book under the assumption that it was actually apart of the Percy Jackson series. This being said, I enjoyed this book immensely, as it gives insights from famous authors and Riordan himself into one of my absolute FAVORITE book series of all time. The essays strike the right note between funny and serious and often provide prompts for even greater thinking based on initially explored questions and concepts. I really recommend this book for anyone wanting a little more Percy Jackson in their lives. And no, I am not a college student, but a fourteen year old female. The high school students who say this book is too much like "school reading" and is "boring" are kidding themselves and are probably being lazy. Read it, you won'... moret be disappointed.
review 2: Let me start by saying I am a huge fan of Rick Riordan and love his books. The Percy Jackson series is popular in my elementary library. I was, however, disappointed in this book. The introduction is by far the best part of the book. I did realize that other authors would be part of this book but not in the way I thought. When I am giving a book talk on the Percy Jackson series, I will definitely use Rick Riordan’s introduction in this book to provide additional information to prospective readers. While I am glad I have read this book, I would not purchase it for the library. less
