review 1: I have read just about every Riordan book there is, and after a while they kind of blend together. One thing is sure, and that is that Riordan writes in a vivid, funny and captivating teenager style of language. From the very start, things like 'Even before the Harpies showed up, Jason was having a bad day' are sure to capture the reader's attention. In general, withholding information can be annoying, but if the demigod lost his/her mind, that it becomes a key mystery in the novel, one to be unraveled slowly and deliberately. While the Mark of Athena is part of the Heroes of Olympus, a spinoff of the Percy Jackson Series, the Kane Series deals with Egyptian gods and is perhaps spookier and darker. In short, I loved them all.
review 2: I thought that The Mar
... morek Of Athena was a very good book and I would read it again. The plot of the story was very well written. Every chapter ended with a cliffhanger which left me wanting to read more. This story is the third book of the Lost Hero series. In the story the main characters; Percy, Annabeth, Piper, Hazel, Frank, Jason and Leo, go to Rome to defeat the giants and stop Gea from awakening and opening the "Doors of Death". Annabeth has an additional quest. Her mother Athena has asked her to retrieve her statue from Rome and bring it back to her. In the process of getting to Rome the gang runs into trouble such as: monsters, pirates, and other demigods. They must learn how to work together in order to defeat Gea and stop her from awakening. less
