review 1: This is the most beautiful book I've ever read. It was very emotional. I would be laughing out loud one moment and then sobbing the next. Some of Rio Youers' descriptions of environments and/or events are amazing. He has ways of describing things in ways I've never thought of and yet the description is absolutely perfect. This is an extremely moving book and I have recommended it to many friends who have also loved it.

The way the topic is handled in... more this story is amazing. This story takes us through the controversy, but makes it so excruciatingly human it’s almost unbearable. Emotions are evoked masterfully. But that is the genius of the way this book is written, it manages to make a very heavy subject light and interesting, while maintaining respect and dignity for all of the characters. The story is amusing, and heartwarming and medically accurate. The characters are vividly average people dealing with crap that life had thrown them. At one point, I mentioned to someone I was reading this book because it was so well written, but was afraid to finish because I was scared of how it might end. Without any spoilers, I would say the ending was just fine with me. A good read and a good think. Excellent. less
