review 1: Splat is riding his bike when he crash lands right next to a duck. When Splat realizes that the duck is not quacking, he decides to take to duck back to the pond in hopes of restoring its quack. When it seems like that's not going to work, Splat has to figure out another way to help find the duck's quack. The illustrations in the book are colorful and fit well with the story. It's a good book for kids who are starting to read on their own. The story is fun and easy to follow, and rhyming words will keep their interest. It can be used to introduce a unit about animals or introduce some rhyming sounds.
review 2: Splat Cat and friends help a duck get its quack back in this charming level 1 reader. All the duck needs are some glasses and he starts quacking up
... more a storm. This would be a helpful text for children discovering that they too need their first pair of glasses to help them get their quack back. Rhyming words are employed frequently throughout the book, which creates a fun tongue-twister to read aloud but also provides important practice chunking sounds. Recommended for children preschool through early elementary, Splat the Cat would make an excellent addition to any easy reader collection. less
