review 1: A good yarn part horror part beginning and ending of the world. This is the second book of his I have read and they are well writtne easy to read. Each of the characters move on in some way. It is also a comment on everyday life and goals. It is about good and evil and how there is not that much difference between all of them. Again the darkness or the bad characters are not easy to describe a blackness that destroys mortals they see them.
review 2: Boy searches for and then joins his father's traveling vaudeville troupe. In doing so, he unwittingly gets involved in the middle of an ancient battle that goes back to the beginning of creation. Intriguing mystery, with mildly interesting characters, and bad pacing. It's one part coming of age story, one part fa... morether/son story, and one part fantasy/horror story. Does all of them well, but none of them excellent and never really seems focused. Entertaining book, nothing I'd go out of my way to recommend. less
