review 1: Reprints The Talisman #0-5. Jack Sawyer commences a quest to save his mother and at the same time the queen of a parallel world called the Territories, but his father's killer is after him, and Jack might be running out of time. The Talisman adapts Stephen King and Peter Straub's 1984 novel of the same name. The art and storytelling are strong if not a bit slow, but fans of The Dark Tower series or The Stand series by Marvel will recognize it is about the same pacing. The problem with The Talisman might end up being the publish Del Rey that already reports that this short beginning to the adaptation could be the end.
review 2: Based on the great novel by Peter Straub and Stephen King, I went in with high expectations on this one. Especially since Robin Furt
... moreh was/is involved with adapting King's Darktower series to comics. I like the artwork and the basic story (it is pretty much a classic now) but the adaptation felt very clunky to me. It was slow, I felt no connection to the character and I really had to force myself to read it. Maybe I went in with too high expectations, but I say skip this one. less

Excellent companion to the novel. If you like comics and Stephen King, you'll like this.

An excellent adaptation of the book, but I'm disappointed that it's left unfinished.
