review 1: I have to admit that I feel this volume is probably my least favorite of the series thus far, and not because it's aimed to be the most difficult on the heartstrings. Someone stated in another review that the dialogue/writing at times seemed "clunky," and I have to agree, but I'm also really missing Jae Lee's illustrations on this one. The difference in character quality was so distracting that it kept pulling me out of the story. Where are the beautiful boys I know and love? And what happened to the lovely Aileen? Everyone looks very different, and not for the better. I love the book as part of the series but will be kind of glad to quit this volume and move on, if ya kennit.
review 2: This is kinda like the Empire Strikes Back of the Dark Tower comic series.
... moreIt's hard to spoil anything when it's all in the title, (or if you've read the dark tower) but basically, a lot of bad things happen to the good guys and the bad guys put on some serious ass kicking boots. This series continues to impress. The drawings and colorings are absolutely awesome. And I love these extra tales that are giving the dark tower more layers and depth to the overall story. The whole thing has definitely been making me feel like a kid again. In a good way! On to the next chapter....... less

Damn fine storytelling. The art style seems to be shifting, and I'm not sure that I approve.
