review 1: I read the Red Cadillac first and really enjoyed it. This one had so many characters it got confusing at times. The last few chapters kind of fell off in terms of writing quality. Seemed like a rush to wrap things up. And why the big secret about Raul's family? Doesn't seem like much point except to make him off limits to Katy at first. I will read others by this author but didn't think this one was as solid as The Red Cadillac.
review 2: This was a fun and fast read. Katy, the protagonist is a San Francisco Detective on a forced leave (she shot her sister's stalker). She is sailing alone to Mexico and discovers a female body floating nearby. This takes her into Encinitas where the Mexican Police keep her for six hours interviewing her about the remains.
... moreThe Chief, Raul, is, of course dark, attractive and mysterious. The mystery takes her to a couple of yacht harbors and deals with murder, cons, the IRS and general mayhem. It is well written with both wit and humor and a plot that will keep your interest. less
