review 1: I found this book as a free kindle ebook on Amazon.I enjoyed that the main character, Lalla, is not just an ex-model, but is now a crop dusting pilot, because why not? This book is a funny read, I enjoyed some of the outer-lying characters, the silliness, and that I wasn't sure who the murder was until the end. But, part of the reason for that is that the book kind of jumped around in a confusing manner. I like quirky murder mysteries so this fit the bill for what I was looking for. Lalla's relationship with every male character in the book is strange to the point where she comes off as crazy - does she really not know after 30 odd years that her best friend is in love with her, even with the way he acts? Why does she keep going places alone with someone she thinks is a mu... morerderer, just because he's attractive? If GoodReads had a 1/2 star I would have given this 3 1/2 stars, if not for the grammatical errors that seem to run rampant about halfway through the book. A typo here and there is one thing but there are a lot towards the end. This book would benefit from an editor's eye for sure, which I find is often the case in free ebooks. In this book it wasn't enough to stop me from finishing it, but still detracts from the enjoyment when there's incomplete sentences and other errors.
review 2: Beauty, Brains, and Brawn....even at 40, Lalla Bains, the once NY runway model now crop dusting pilot, still turns heads and has no problem finding trouble....or it at least finds her! This is an engaging mystery that will have you trying to figure out "who done it"... I'm anxious to see what's next for the ruggedly handsome Sheriff Stone and Ms. Bains...did I mention she's already had 2 failed marriages?A wonderful read! less

Pretty light read. Summer beach read. Some inconsistencies were distracting. gbash

Great heroine, easy read. Think Stephanie Plum meets Texas.
