review 1: Popular hits was a quick easy read, wrought with gore and violence! Ok, it wasn't that drenched in brutality but, this book is about one thing, and that is nihilism. But not the Nietzsche type of way, these character were nihilists because of their innocence and naivete.The prose was decent but i feel that a bit of the plot is lost on people who don't fully understand Japanese culture. If I did...This book may have been a little bit more enjoyable/comedic.
review 2: Surreal, is the only word that comes to mind. I enjoyed it a hell of a lot more than Piercing and Almost Transparent Blue though. Murakami seems to be poking fun at the idea of revenge, "an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind" is pretty much the moral of the story. As long as their friends a
