review 1: This is my first Åsa Larsson novel and my first encounter with Rebecka Martinsson. It won't be my last. I found the mystery cleverly constructed, the characters believable (if sometimes despicable), the historical basis interesting, and the pacing just right. The fact that I read it in just a few sittings and didn't want to put it down at the end of each is an indication of how completely it drew me in. There is just something about a murder mystery, when well done, that makes for very satisfying escapist reading.
review 2: Asa Larsson moves to the TOP of my list of Scandi Crime Writers. 'The Second Deadly Sin' is an amazing book: well-written, not indulgent, brilliantly edited, even lovable ... interesting, and surprising. Perhaps there is a tad too much
... moreromping about with furry mutts and other hounds, but the four legged creatures pose little danger compared to the two-legged variety. I adore this writer, quite brilliant. 'My Life As A Dog' meets Scandi Noir! less

Fantastic. Probably the best so far by this author, despite the fact she made me cry. 4.5 stars.
