review 1: I really enjoy reading literature from Scandinavia and this was no disappointment either. It was my first book from Asa Larsson but won't be my last. I wasn't sure about the ghost in the storyline, telling parts of the story but it worked really well.I also liked the historical information and the day to day life in a small Swedish village where the people are getting older and older and all young people are leaving.
review 2: Pretty good, although the ghostly bits make me uneasy. It's well written, though. It's not a whodunnit, rather a how will it be resolved. The atmosphere of a small place where characters are related, with all the family resentments, is excellent and the characters are well drawn, though I did wish from time to time that I'd read a previou... mores book about the central character I presume there was one. Or more. less
