review 1: This was a well-written book about a very difficult topic -- having a child born with a disability who is not likely to live any semblance of a normal life. I would have given it 5 stars, except that it made me very uncomfortable to hear the open conversations about what to with the child. However, it's probably hits pretty darned close to home for folks who have been in that situation. But it may well feel real to an awful lot of people. The setting was fantastic, the cast of characters interesting.

... moreults. Some parents visited every week, lavishing their adult children with gifts, attention and love. Some parents came monthly, sat uncomfortably for an hour with painful smiles on their faces and left, their perceived duty done for another 30 days. Some parents had abandoned their children long ago to the courts, unable - or unwilling - to live a life full of so much struggle and heartache. But I imagine all of them, at some point, thought that they would not be able to continue as a parent to such a child. An uncomfortable, heartbreaking but honest look at life. less
