review 1: I have felt like I too have thru London and learned about each building, statue, neighborhood, and Buckingham Palace too. The fold out pages was full of information as well on the different facts bout the architecture, buildings, and culture. For example, until 1749, there was oly one bridge that allowed you to cross into London, the St. Paul's Cathedral was completed in 1710 and it was the tallest building for two and a half centuries. The illustrations were a combination of sketches from the artist to a cartoonlike page. This book was very engaging and pleasant on your eyes, and each information act was written as captions or side notes, and even on buliding awnings to keep you jumping around searching for the next interesting act. Salvatore Rubbino illustrated this boo... morek literally checked the weather for at before heading out to do his drawings for this book which is cute dentil thy offered. I would recommend this book to children of all ages to enjoy.
review 2: The book was about a little girl and her mother walking around in London. While they were there, they saw all kinds of sights. They visit the Whispering Gallery at St. Paul’s Cathedral, the Big Ben,Covenant Garden, and Tower of London. They also see the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace and the girl becomes so excited. She is learning along the way about the main attractions in London. They end their visit with a boat trip down the Thames River. The age range of the book is primary. I think it would be fun and exciting for them to pretend they are in London (or another city. The book is meant to be read with an adult and I believe children would love it because they are able to see famous places without going there. The illustration are lively and they look like they are done by paint. It is very easy to tell what each attraction is and the colors are vibrant. I believe the bus is the most attractive because it is bright red and it will cath young readers attention. This is a great informational book. I recommend this book to any young child because of the illustrations and the author did a good job on visiting the big main attractions in London. It will make the child want to learn more about London or even more about one of the main attractions. They may also want to learn more about other places like Paris or Spain. This book let's them explore another city that is not in the United States and it makes them curious about other places out there. Also, in addition to the regular text, there are smaller text boxes filled with additional information on each page for the child to learn more about the attraction. less
