review 1: I am hesitant to praise anything so much, but: 1) It is well written and actually pleasant to read. 2) It is compassionate, because the author himself struggles with same-sex attraction. 3) It is biblical. 4) Sam Allberry chose his texts wisely, and he discussed them faithfully, as far as I can tell. This was a refreshing read because, quite apart from its subject matter, Allberry discussed the Bible *well.* He never mistook "minors" for "majors," never argued a "forced" interpretation of Scripture, and rarely if ever said anything unhelpful about "what the passage did not say." He stuck to the Bible, and he expounded it fairly, gently, firmly. We need people who can do that!
review 2: The author speaks knowledgeably about this subject, since he struggles with ... moresame-sex attraction. This book is a very readable, comprehensive treatment of how Christians should view the subject. Allberry discusses the Biblical passages dealing with homosexuality and the the Gospel message as a whole, emphasizing the importance of one's heart attitude toward God and His commands regarding sin. He also tackles current culture questions such as "Surely a same-sex partnership is ok if it's committed and faithful?" and "Aren't we just picking and choosing which Old Testament laws apply?" At just 85 pages, this book is a concise yet meaty aid to standing firm on this hot topic. less
