review 1: If you are like me and go threw review after review before choosing a book. Here is a important review for this series, Do not start reading First Bitten .Samantha Towle has chosen not to finish this series.so after a cliff hanger in book one this series ends with a lot of unanswered questions at book two.I for one am glad I checked reviews, search the author and check release dates before I read this series and wasted my time.
review 2: I have mixed views about this book. I enjoyed it but at the same time parts of it annoyed me. The plot seemed interesting & had lots of opportunities but actually there was very little action, until right near the end. I hated Nathan about 80% of the story, never understood why he was so mean (very school boy being mean to girl... more he actually likes) & wish the story went more into Alex as she changed as apart from her 'thirst for blood' & being a bit stronger you don't really get much more considering she's gone through a lot (changed species!). Experiencing her shifting or doing anything with her new abilities (apart from breaking a glass) would have been nice but we got nothing. But perhaps we get more in book 2. The book was short & kept to a fast paced speed which is good in some ways (some books spend pages & pages describing a scene & what people are wearing which I dislike) but in other ways I think the story line could have gone more in to more detail hence the 3 stars. I was going to read the 2nd to see if we get much more which I still might do but I won't be rushing to read it. less
