review 1: What a terrific read! Byrd has managed to write a novel that is historically accurate, hard-to-put-down (even though we know how the story ends), and, frankly, better than the well known Anne Boleyn novel "The Other Boleyn Girl." I also love how she deftly wove in how the reformation took place, letting us see, in simple but accurate terms, what it meant to the people. I highly recommend this novel.
review 2: A fictional work based on the rise and fall of Anne Boleyn in the Tudor court. This story is shown through the eyes of Anne's best friend who stuck by her side through out childhood to becoming queen and her eventual beheading. I really enjoyed seeing a new side to Anne, most stories paint her as conniving and manipulative, this one showed a softer gentler
... more Anne who really resonated with me. Even though I knew how the story would end I kept finding myself rooting for Anne and wishing her good will through out the book. less
