review 1: Really liked the Secret Keeper. In fact, it's my favorite in Sandra Byrd's Tudor series. Juliana's outspoken personality appealed to me as did Kate's mature, patient one (I am a little more like Juliana and should probably be a little more like Kate). It seems like there aren't enough strong women in Christian fiction and so I was glad to find books about Anne Boleyn, Kateryn Parr, and Elizabeth. I had always just thought of Kateryn (love that name, BTW) as the Wife Who Survived and this book opened me up to how much of a great queen and brilliant woman she was. Also, I liked what the author did with Mary at the end and totally did not expect Thomas Seymour to be Juliana's father.
review 2: In my recent mood to read books with substance, this one, while histori
... morecally accurate with fiction interwoven, was an okay read. A young woman is taken into a Queen's residence as a lady in waiting. She has night visions that come about, is unselfish and happy to serve, is raped, is courted but because she feels she is 'damaged and used' refuses the love of her life and she ends up poor after her 'protector' the king, dies. It ends well though. Our book club had chosen a book by this name for this month's book, but the one we chose was by a different author so I read this one by mistake! Now to finish the right one! less
