review 1: this is actually titled the summer house as well - just to confuse u! antoinette's world has fallen apart. her husband has died in a ski-ing accident aged 58. he was everything to her and she knew him better than she knew herself - or so she thought then at the funeral a girl called phaedra appears and says she is george's daughter - conceived before he met his wife he has also remembered her in his willh/e is this the true story ? it is quite obvious before u r ha;f way thru what the real truth us but r the characters of the whole family and their friends is so realistic u go with the flow the only thing i fel a bit uncomfortable with was phaedra's actions and comments t people she talked to or came into contact with. she was a bit too guru like and wise beyond her years... more bev
review 2: I received this book from a Goodreads First Read Giveaway. I enjoyed this book. It was a quick read with a happy ending. I found the characters to be pretty likeable. Although I figured out what the "twist" was going to be I was still interested to see how it actually came about. The main thing that I did not like about the book was all the description of the scenery. I would have preferred it if some of that had been cut out. Other than that I liked the book. It was different than anything else that I have read, and I would be interested in reading other books by the author. Sometimes it is nice to read something that you know is going to have a feel good ending. less
