review 1: You would think a book about little things we can do to save the planet would be, at best, an important but dull read. Somehow, though, Sara Gilbert managed to write a book about going green that also make me laugh. (This may be because I heard Darlene Conner's voice reading this in my head the entire time, who knows.)There is one page per topic, and it's broken down into three sections depending on your interest in that subject. The section headers made me giggle every time:1) Cut to the chase, hippie, what's the least I need to know2) Intriguing... I can handle a little more3) I need some facts to bore my friends withI'm big into saving the world (and I read fast) so I read the entire book, but I can see where just reading a few subjects here and there would still be ext... moreremely beneficial. Sara makes it seem easy to do your part, and she clearly practices what she preaches as the entire book was made from recycled paper. Every now and then a subject would come up that seems like it would be costly to follow. For those times, Sara breaks it down into what you can afford with these section headers:1) I'm Donald Trump2) Okay, I've got my own place but I've also got credit card debt3) I'm sleeping on my friend's couch and eating ramen noodlesIt made me laugh every time, but it was also a good reminder that you don't have to be a zillionaire to do your part.
review 2: This book had some interesting environmental advice for the real world. Each topic took up just one page so it was a quick read as the author intended. I like that it had sections to allow you to read only one paragraph on the subject if you weren't interested (cut to the chase, hippie, what's the least I need to know?) and then a bit more if you were (intriguing I can handle a little more) and then it provided even more information or discussion in the next section (I need some facts to bore my friends with). The author also had sections for major investments, medium sized investments, and minimal investments on each of the ideas. They also had humorous titles for those sections: I'm Donald Trump, okay I've got my own place but I've also got credit card debt, and I'm sleeping on my friend's couch and eating ramen noodles.I thought each topic should have had an additional resources page i.e. this book expanded on it, here's where I got the information which I summarized, or this web page will take days to get through if you're absorbed and want to know more. The book's major downfall is that it had no sources listed, no bibliography and only an index to help you find the sections in the back of the book. less
