Claire DeWitt mysteries
review 1: Claire DeWitt is an awesome detective. This novel is set in post-Katrina New Orleans. The story conveys the trauma Katrina inflicted on residents, particularly poor people. DeWitt is searching the streets and darkest corners of New Orleans for a missing Assistant District Attorney. New Orleans is a dangerous and dark place, post-Katrina, but DeWitt not only solves the mystery, but several others along the way. This is not a funny or facetious story, but sympathetic and quite humane without being dismal. I definitely want to read more of Claire DeWitt.
review 2: I thought this book was awful. I finished it because it was very unusual and I wanted to see it through. Way too spiritual and mystical for me. The heroine – Claire DeWitt – I had no idea what she l
... moreooked like, just that she was "no longer pretty," in her estimation. Her behavior was unbelievable – sitting around drinking and drugging all night with smelly homeless characters and gun toting drug dealers that want to kill her. Her backstory of her two best friends/teen detectives also unbelievable. One disappeared and Claire and the other had a falling out because Claire has moved on. The writings of the famous French detective were a little too mystical for me. The writing of this book was redundant in many places. less

Good interesting book. Another one that kept me coming back until I finished it.
