review 1: The Bungalow was just stupid, predictable, and trash. Sorry, not much to say that is positive. This book should be historical romance and not literature or fiction. Poor writing with a stupid plot made for a boring (and short) read. There was no character development and the book skipped over parts of the plot that should have been developed. The story is set on Bora Bora during WWII. The main character is a woman who is running away from a fiancee she is not sure if she "loves". While on the island, there is a pregnancy, mysterious fighting, a murder, and a love affair. All of which is predictable in that it is the plot of many romance novels and soap operas. I ended up just skimming the last 20 pages because I could tell it was going to just be ridiculous and it... more was! Don't waste your time. Even if you like fluff novels there are much better romances out there.
review 2: I picked this up at the library from one of their displays. I didn't realize that I had already read one of her books--the Violets of March. Had I known, I may not have picked it up because I thought the same thing of this book. It had an interesting premise, but amateur writing. There were so many unanswered questions throughout the book--trying to make it more mysterious, but also a little bit unrealistic. I think I still have some unanswered questions after finishing the book. less
