review 1: This was an okay read. I liked how the chapters were short which made for quick reading. I did like the friendship that developed between Monica and Robin. Monica angered me that she would allow herself to be backed into a corner where she had no other option but to strip to provide for her children. When your husband has millions, put your pride to the side. I can't stand blackmailing schemes and having to subject herself to blackmail from her ex-husband's business partner ticked me off. Also the lying she did which ended her new relationship was infuriating. As I was reading I knew it wasn't going to end well. I have been reading books long enough to see predictable story lines. I was shocked at her best friend Reyna. I did not see what unfolded between them coming but I... more felt that part of the story was unresolved.I did like Robin. The take no prisoners stripper. She was tough and I like how her character evolved when her nephew and his mentor entered her life. Her ex Halo was scary. I could see an entire book devoted to him. As one other reviewer stated have both women dating men with similar names almost made me think they were dating the same man. Monica dated Tremayne and Robin dated Trey. Not very original. The author wrapped up the story with a happy ever after ending. Overall it was a pleasant read and I may read one of this author's books again eventually.
review 2: I listened to this book on audio and it definitely kept my interest. It was nicely paced and a good length. I don't know if the author intentionally tried to throw me (readers) off or if it was just me but I kept thinking Trey and Tremaine were the same man with two different women since Trey could be a nickname. Anyway I enjoyed how it played out. I couldn't believe Monica actually went through with stripping but I guess she really felt out of options, her personality in the book didn't seem like she was cut out for that type of job but doing anything for your kids made it believable. Robin was no joke about hers, she knew what she had and made it work for her. I'm glad that she found a softness in her heart to let go of all the past pain and reconnect with loved ones. Good story about two women from different backgrounds being faced with heavy issues but came through and developed a friendship as well. less
