review 1: The author goes into quite a bit of detail on how we read the Bible and some of the "logic" that we use to rationalize our behavior regarding things that are commanded that we don't do. I'm not sure that I can do the book justice in a review. After going through a philosophy on how to read the Bible, the author walks through the role of women in the church to show you how interpretation might be done around a real issue.
review 2: I found Scot McKnight's "The Blue Parakeet" to be an excellent book - one that forced me to confront allegations of hypocrisy in my own application of Biblical truth. How do we choose what passages of Scripture are literal for the times and which need to be revisited in light of the changing of the times? These are challenging and d... moreifficult questions and are precisely what the church should be spending more of its time contemplating. I highly recommend going through this book with a group of fellow believers. less
