review 1: This is a conspiracy theory complete with evil all-controlling mastermind and his psychopathic henchmen killing at will with impunity vs lone wolf good-guy protecting the innocents and unravelling a mystery. I didn't find it laughable until a bit at the end, which is more than I can say for Clive Cussler's books. There's not much about Mozart, at least anything I could believe. But for an action-packed story you don't expect much character development. On the whole, I enjoyed the book.
review 2: Well, I finished it. There was a mildly interesting premise at the bottom of a teetering pile of gratuitous violence, weapons described as if in a Ku Klux Klan katalogue, slushy romance, double crossings, unbelievable chases, people doing incredibly stupid thing
... mores so as to move the plot along, people doing incredible deeds of derring-do/physical prowess so as to move the plot along. I'm so sorry to be unkind about it - but it felt as if it had been written by a computer. But hey - you have a publisher, Mr Mariani and I don't: so somebody loves ya, baby. less

A reasonable read. The violence is very graphic in places.

A decent enough thriller that ends on a very bad note.
