review 1: I was pleased to finally find this book as an ebook and was doubly pleased to find how much I enjoyed it. Lots of action even if everything wasn't a complete surprise. Some of the writing lacked polish but I chalked it up to the writer's first book. I enjoyed the action and the chase. I also enjoyed knowing how much better this series got in later books. Good action, interesting story line and characters. Looking forward to filling in the holes in the series.
review 2: Admittedly, I have a guilty treasure for novels with Templars (none here) and alchemists when I'm not watching bad B science fiction. This was a fun and quick read, but it lacked any alchemy. The female interest was depicted as a scientist who had fallen on disgrace because of her interes
... moret in alchemy, but was completely useless in providing clues or deciphering alchemical manuscripts. Disappointing lack of esoteric meat in this one. less
