review 1: "There is a difference between being present on social media and having a presence." This is one of the few key points I'll remember from this book. The rest is largely forgettable. Heavy on opinion, light on research, UnMarketing reads like fifty-five recommendations on what's worked for Scott Stratten so far. Stratten makes claims about best practices in social media marketing and backs them up occasionally with data. But be prepared to hear something like this ad nauseum: "This experience sucked, and this is what I wish the company would've done differently." Yes, we're all on board that ignoring customers isn't the best way to earn business. The highlights of the book are the (unfortunately) extremely brief case studies on companies such as Zappos and FreshBooks. Inste... moread of opinionated theory, these chapters illustrate credible strategies in practice. The general social media chapters are useful, but the platform-specific ones are mildly outdated and nothing remotely groundbreaking. tl;dr The valuable content is in the company case study chapters. Don't miss the general social media chapters. Pass on the rest.
review 2: Definitely not the Book that I want to finish in 3 days..however I am loving the short case studies. They make a good point on how social media can amplify a good/bad customer service. It is true that a lot of brand jump on social media (just because it is free) but then they don't do much to engage with their customers. Be authentic and tweet on a daily basis are Scott's messages so far..nothing that truly surprises!but I am only at page 87..much more can happen..Stay tuned! less

"Push" is dying, you MUST learn how to "pull". This book will set you on course to doing just that.
