review 1: Sharon Sala does it again. This is an amazingly well written book with multiple plots. She has three different story lines that all converge and complete at the same time. The pacing, the action, and the romance are all believable. Yes, even when she takes you into the head of the bear - not a pun but in reality. Quin and Mariah are ex-soilders suffering PTSD but fell in love during the war they fought and reunite once they are stateside. Quin is a park ranger and hunts a sick bear intent on killing (in which you are taken into the head of the bear). Bear is killed then they hunt the poacher who caused the bear to be sick. In the meantime, a long lost son, Lonnie, returns to his family and sets up an elaborate cocaine business in an old mine on the opposite side of ... morethe mountain from where Quin lives. Quin is led to the mine by a boot print that belongs to the poacher and is captured. Mariah ventures the cave hoping that she's not experiencing PTSD by hearing voices is convinced that the cave and mine connect to rescue Quin. In the end Quin and Mariah live happily ever after and the bad guys die or go to jail. The story was spun and I was pulled in enjoying every minute. It's a great thrill ride!
review 2: I really wanted to like this book because I enjoy Sharon Sala but this was just "okay" to me. Two of the plot points were so separated I felt like I was reading two different books with Quinn and Mariah's relationship just carrying over. I think if she'd combined the bear and the drug dealer business it would have been a much better read. The relationship between Quinn and Mariah was good though. I enjoyed them and they really carried the book. less
