review 1: This was a wonderfully fresh, engaging read. Once again, I listened to it on audible and couldn't stop listening. I finished it in less than a day! I love Lady Claire and author Shelley Adina has not lost any steam (pun intended) with this book. We pick right up where we left of in book one of the series. And you are really able to feel like you are there. I could see Lady Claire and Andrew working in the Laboratory and even though I listened to it, it felt like a visual experience. What a treasure this series was to find.
review 2: This was a lot more romance heavy than the last novel in the series. Her feelings for Andrew still seem to be moving forward quite gradually and somehow they found a way to make James a part of a love triangle when no one loves him.
... moreThere is more character exposition in this book, but there are some weirdly thrown in obstacles and plot points for Claire that aren't explained well. Those same obstacles make the story more interesting so I guess I am OK with it.Fiona Hardingham still has the same pausing problem as in the last audiobook but she has improved because it doesn't occur as often. less

A great second part to the series! End at just the point a TV series would end the season on.

The series remains captivating. I wouldn't have guessed the bad guy. On to book three!
