The Sweet Magnolias
review 1: Karen and Elliot have been married for a couple of years now and Elliot isvery supportive of Karens past demons when it comes to relationships, marriage and finances. A great opportunity has come to him with hubands of the Sweet Magnolia women to open up a new health gym. It will take alot of money to put down, dipping into their savings and "baby" fund. When Karen learns of this plan of her husbands through the Serenity grapevine, she is ballistic. Elliot continues to reassure her that the business would be a bit hit, and they would be out of debt quickly. Karen has a very difficult time having faith in her husband. Elliot is also eager to legally adopt Karen's two children from her previous marriage. With all this, Elliots sister has discovered along with the rest of Ser... moreenity of her husbands cheating and latest girlfriend. Ernesto has no qualms of flaunting his affair infront of Adelia or his daughter. The Cruz family are very strict when it comes to their faith and family values, and have a definite "no" attitude towards divorce. They were so agains Elliot being with Karen for that reason from the beginning. They have very old fashioned thinking of the roles each partner plays in a marriage. So this is a very tense time for both Karen and Adelia. I have really enjoyed reading the Sweet Magnolia series so far. I really didn't care for the personalities of Karen and the Cruz family. I don't feel Elliot deserved all the pain Karen has given him over the adopting of her children or her neverending fears. I wanted to yell at her and the Cruz family, "WAKE UP, GET OVER IT AND GET IN THE REAL WORLD." But all in all I love the Magnolias and the men in Serenity.
review 2: This is book 8 in the Sweet Magnolia series and it was great to be reunited with all the characters from Serenity that we've gotten to know over the years and grown to love. They were all there with spouses, kids, other family and friends. We were able to catch up with everyone, not just a few characters from previous books. I cried, laughed, felt happy and sad, along with the love and romance. I can't wait to read the next 2 books in the series which are out this summer and see where the story takes us next. There was closure but also enough loose ends to pick up right where we left off in Midnight Promises with the next books. Keep up the good work Sherryl. I love her books, especially the series. If you haven't read books by her before make sure you do. You won't be disappointed! less
