review 1: I liked the story, but I hope the copy editor lost their job. There were so many pronouns missing or misplaced, words spelled wrong, characters that have left the room, then join in the conversation, but then return to the room since they weren't there. Ridiculous mistakes all throughout the book; it was slightly distracting. Twice the word kafuffle was used - twice. The word is kerfuffle. Sheesh. But I still thought it was a good follow-up book.

... moreinds a crisis, with Alec accused of driving drunk and murdering Ruli, (but with no memory of the crash that killed her), and plenty of political intrigue to puzzle over. As usual, Sherwood Smith has created a detailed yet exciting plot that manages a multitude of twists and turns; and where the first book was relatively free of major fantasy elements, this second book takes a plunge. It will be interesting to see what she does with book 3. (Maybe she could kill off the annoying American doctor whose coarse and cheesy way of talking jars every time she appears on the page!) Read if you enjoyed book 1. less

A fine sequel, and I enjoyed the twists and turns of the mystery very much.
