review 1: Detta är bok nummer tre i serien om rättsantropologen David Hunter. Jag var mycket förtjust i både Dödens kemi och Skrivet i eld, så förväntningarna var höga när jag äntligen kunde hämta ut Dödens viskningar på biblioteket. Den här gången utspelar sig boken på andra sidan Atlanten, i USA. David har åkt dit för att träffa en kollega och vän. Detta för att via upp sig efter att han blev knivhuggen i slutet av bok nummer två. I stället för semester blir det arbete för hela slanten. Det första offret har blivit torterad och kroppen är upplöst till oigenkännlighet. Ännu en kropp hittas inom kort och jakten på en seriemördare tar sin början. Jag gillar Simon Becketts böcker. Mycket! Den här skiljde sig dock från de andra i översättningen, s... moreom bitvis var riktigt usel. Lite trist.
review 2: This is number 3 in the Dr David Hunter series and is a great forensic style crime story. Although there is a focus on forensics as that is David Hunter's job the book does not focus relentlessly on evidence to the exclusion of plot and tension.David, following the awful events of the previous book, takes a trip to the Body Farm in Tennessee to brush up his skills and to decide if he is still up to the task. Of course a body is found and the other forensic experts all set to work - David is rather on the outskirts of the investigation which means he doesnt know all that is going on.In the meantime Simon Beckett gives us ambiguous snippets of a narrative about the moment of death, the process of dying and the fascination with it - but to start with we dont know who this thoughts are coming from they are deliberately unidentified. This seems to show a parallel between those who murder and those who investigate it, an interest and weird obsession with the macabre.Simon Beckett is writing consistent crime books and I already have number 4 waiting. less
