review 1: I love the world that Stirling has created, so I keep reading. But, I must say that it's mostly one battle after another and that is getting old. Each book doesn't even necessarily finish one war. Eh, what can you say. I could dissect how the plot drags, then speeds ahead. How the timeline jumps around too much. How the effects of the Change seem to be a bit on the inconsistent side. But ultimately, I don't care. I care about the these characters and know I'll read every book he writes about them.
review 2: As the 9th book in a series, Lord of Mountains fills in back story and starts to introduce the next generation of characters. This book encompasses the penultimate battle of the saga. It is used to clean up details before the final book. This and book 8 are
... morebooks that, if written, fans complain about slogging through the details, but, if not written, fans complain about not having all the back story. Can't win for losing. Overall, I enjoyed it as an audiobook, but would have felt it a little cumbersome if I had to read it on paper. less

Can't figure out if this series has ended or not. If so, OK. I like it. But it was unclear.

Much better than the last installment. As always, I'm left wanting more.
