review 1: Well I actually read this 3rd, but it doesn't matter as the books in the series run concurrently, so characters show up in each book and it is fun to see them from different points of view. I loved that the heroine was actually 2 years older than the duke. The Duke is half French, so very suspect as the war with the French is just winding down. The premise, that 6 Dukes and Prinny got so drunk on absinthe that they created a scandal that is playing out in the papers to the effect that the populace is throwing vegetables at Prinny. His solution is that the Duke's must marry and take the heat off of Prinny. There are 3 books so far, with 3 more Dukes to marry! The fate of one has been mysteriously alluded to in these books, and we hope that the 5th will marry the woman who w... moree know is in love with him. As for the 6th, no idea and can't wait to find out!
review 2: Combination of H/h in this book didn't exactly work for me. Alex was a royal duke, ordered by Prince Regent to marry a pristine lady as an atonement after a recent scandal, while Roxanne was a daughter of a miner, she was older than hero and still married to someone else for the better part of the story. I felt like there were to many obstacles in their path toward HEA, and it seemed anachronistic for them to treat their situation so lightly. The book was pretty funny, especially when Roxy's husband and Alex collided. The writing was good, but I felt like the actual romance wasn't properly developed. less
