review 1: This is a book you can’t stop reading. One more chapter turns into five. The mystery around Lark’s disappearance and whatever secrets she discovered is consuming. Trying to decipher the clues with Raven is enthralling. The developing relationship between Raven and Asher is so sweet and a welcome distraction from the many possible bad endings to what really happened to Lark. The writing is great, with the plot drawing you in quickly, and the many twists and turns keeping you engaged and guessing. The ending and the reveal of the next clue leaves you wanting more while also feeling nervous about the connection between these two girls. Sophie Davis does a great job of winding the writings of both girls together seamlessly, allowing the reader to jump between viewpoints an... mored timelines without confusion. Even when I had to stop reading the book for a week, I was able to easily and quickly immerse myself back in the storyline. I highly recommend this story if you enjoy mysteries or coming-of-age tales. You’ll become engrossed in this story, and it is well worth your time.
review 2: 3.5/5 stars I received this book free from the author in exchange for an honest review. When given the chance to read a free copy of this book I jumped at the opportunity since I absolutely loved Sophie Davis' Talented series. The book was definitely full of mystery and intrigue from beginning to end and kept me on my toes. The book grabbed my attention from the beginning and throughout the book I was constantly trying to piece together what happened to Lark and what was going to happen next. I have numerous theories, but I have a feeling that none of them come close to what is really going on. I would have liked the pace to have been faster and have had more questions answered by the end of the book, but as the first book of the series I understand that a foundation needs to be laid for the next books. It ended with a cliffhanger, so I am dying to see what the next book in the series brings. less
