review 1: Fragile Facade is yet another excellent book by Sophie Davis that leaves the reader eager to unravel the mystery of what happened to Lark. When Raven finds Lark's diary she begins to piece together clues and becomes determined to find out what could have happened to the wealthy and beautiful Lark. The reason I gave 4 stars rather than 5 is because Sophie Davis set my expectations pretty high with the Talented Saga, and while Fragile Facade was a very enjoyable read, the characters didn't quite pull me in the same as those in The Talented Saga (which I am quite addicted to). This is definitely a series worth reading and I look forward to the future books in the series.I was offered a free eCopy of Fragile Facade from the author in exchange for an honest re... moreview.
review 2: Do we ever really know someone else's true identity? Do we put up so many barriers of protection, we end up losing ourselves behind those self-made walls? Eventually, wondering what is real and what is superficial? These themes are examined in Sophie Davis' Fragile Barriers. The novel has a dual narrative between Lark Kingsley and Raven Ferragamo. Two seemingly different characters who may have more in common then initially thought. Lark is a golden girl from a rich socialite family in New York City. She seems to have everything a teenage girl could want, until she mysteriously disappears. Raven's background seems less privileged and she is starting her life over in a Washington, D.C. She discovers the missing girl's journal and starts to unravel the secrets with the help of her new and handsome neighbour Asher. If you like detective stories and page turning suspense, you will love this first book in the Blind Barrier's Trilogy. Sophie Davis writes with ease and I couldn't put it down. I kept turning pages, anxious to solve the mystery surrounding Lark's disappearance. (and also wondering what Raven is trying to escape.) The cliffhanger ending was startlingly impressive! I can not wait to see how the story unfolds in Book #2!! I highly recommend this trilogy and all of Sophie Davis' works!! less
