The Ghost and the Goth
review 1: This book had the same pros and cons as the first two in the trilogy for the most part. All three were fairly boring up until roughly the halfway point, and then ramped up towards endings that were far better than I could have hoped for, but also felt right. In the first two books, Will was far more likable than Alona. In this book, that's not the case, but that's not a good thing. Their voices blended and on at least 2 occasions I forgot who's chapter I was reading. So if half the book was boring and the characters were bad, why 3 stars? I decided to be generous owing to a fantastic end to a series.I'm undecided on Stacey Kade. I usually finish a series excited to see more by the author, or completely uninterested. This time, though, I didn't like the books enough to want m... moreore, or dislike them enough to make me avoid her. I'd still read more books by her, pending the story.Anywho, fun, solid read. I don't regret spending time on it, but I highly doubt I'll ever reread
review 2: If I'm not mistaken this is the first Ghost and Goth book I rated as a 5-Star. It was by-far the absolute best in the series. There is a lot more self-reflection and deeper life lessons (and after-life lessons) in this story versus the others. This one took me the longest to read, in a good way! The other two though they were really good were fluffy and easy 1 day readers. I probably could have read this in one day if I had-had more time however it definitely still would have taken me longer than the other two. There were a lot of surprise twists and turns in this story and Kade leaves the reader hanging in suspense until the VERY end. But it has a beautiful ending where everything makes a lot of sense. With this series when I read the summaries of the books I often wondered how she would pull it off and not lose the magic, but she seamlessly sews the story together to make a lot of sense.Alona and Will are still one of my all time favorite book couples. I adore that they bicker and never quite admit to each other how they feel. And often times are even just short of admitting to themselves how they feel about each other. They fight and get moody but still don't want to live apart. In the end I'm really glad things happened as they did. Though Alona doesn't still look like Alona, Will definitely still SEES Alona. It's a great lesson in "true love is blind." Alona Dare never got to live until she died, she would have never (or more than likely never) found someone who loves her like Will does if she hadn't died, because death brought so many realizations to her and made her a better person. Plus, it totally would have been weird if he had sex with a ghost. I definitely am going to miss these two. There needs to be more complete opposites attracting books. I've always loved that about Alona and Will. They would have NEVER become a couple or even friends except for the certain circumstances they had. Yet because of it, they end up with the perfect person. less
