review 1: Of the books in this series I’ve read so far, I actually thought this was the best yet. I wasn’t sure I would like the whole ‘pity me, I’m wounded’ storyline but for some reason this one worked. I also got a bit more of an introduction into the new half-human half-shifters that will be staring in some of the upcoming books and got to know them a little better than we did in v. 2.5 and I am looking forward to Justice’s story. Braxton and Wright are combustible together, and Wright is a good guy that deserves to be happy. Still some weak writing that takes time to slog through, and I HATE the writing crutch of idiot Braxton listening to the witchy Defeat instead of trusting his own lover. Annoying and contrived. But overall a decent entry in the series, just not ... morecrazy about some of the names of the new gang…
review 2: I'm not sure if it's because SH is writing short stories and has run out of words or whatever... but i'm getting a little bit annoyed with how quickly her characters forgive their mates and it's usually because they've been wounded and the mate in question realises all of a sudden that he can't live without their wounded/dying mate. Said wounded/dying mate will wake up and all is forgiven regardless of how insecure and mistrusting of the world they were feeling when they were hurt in the first place. Just once (okay more than once, almost every time) i need someone to have a spine and make their mate work for forgiveness rather than hand it over on a silver platter. less
