review 1: If you love the Wayne County and the Lost Shifters books, then you’ll definitely love The Leopard Who Changed His Spots because it has one of my favorite characters, Shane and his family, from the Lost Shifters series, as strong secondary characters in this story. It’s no secret that I love Ms. Hecht’s books. Not only does she write adventurous, steamy romances; she also writes with a humorous undertone which easily lightens up some of her more serious themes. Also, I like that even though some of her characters can be pretty heartless and seem like emotionless men, they are able to find their hope, love and always end up redeeming themselves and becoming better people. There has yet to be a hero that I haven’t liked, and in The Leopard Who Changed His Spots, I ende... mored up loving both of them. The blurb does an excellent job at describing the story, so I won’t rehash a lot of it. Toby is an assassin who has never had anyone try and understand him. As a Leopard, he’s always felt separate from other shifters and definitely never fit in. Almost everyone thinks he’s vicious and unlovable and they try to avoid him like the plague. Because of this, Toby doesn’t have many friends and even though he’d never admit it, he’s lonely too.Enter Hale. Since Hale first laid eyes on Toby, he’s been fascinated with him. Hale knows there is more to Toby than meets the eye, so when Toby finally talks Hale, he’s shocked and amazed that the man of his dreams has noticed him at all. When Toby asks Hale out, Hale becomes determined to get to know the person Toby is on the inside and not the person he shows everyone else.I loved how these two men really connected on both an emotional and physical level. They brought out the best in each other and I enjoyed watching them fall in love. I also adored how Toby was related to one of my favorite characters and enjoyed watching them try and get to know each other. I loved every minute I spent reading this book and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series. If you are looking for an action-filled and sexy romance then this book is definitely for you! Although you could probably read this story as a stand-alone book, I do recommend reading the Wayne County books in series order. This way you’ll fall in love with these characters as much as I have. Also, this series is a spinoff of the Lost Shifters series, which is another series I recommend. If you haven’t read them, you should give them a try because you’ll definitely find yourself as hooked on them as much as I am!The Wayne County books in series order are:Ervin’s DilemmaRun, Alger, RunBraxton’s SalvationJustice’s Little NibblerThe Angry Dove and the AssassinThe Leopard who Changed his Spots
review 2: This is one of my favorite shifter books. I really thought that after Shane's books I'd just 'like' the LS instead of love them. I'm also not a huge fan of the Wayne County Wolves. This one was excellent, and it wasn't just because Shane and Toby are brothers. Toby is a leopard true but he's not a carbon copy of Shane, also the two mates could be nothing alike. Trevor was slightly slutty and a soldier, he could hold his own and Shane was the pursuer, in The Leopard who Changed His Spots Hale was the pursuer and he's an adorable Beagle shifter who runs with wolves and is so so sweet, not a mean bone in his body. There's also a lot of action in this one, a big fight scene with a nasty spider and some awesome bro time (haha) yes it involves some blood and barsOne a side note I think that these books are starting to appeal or try to appeal to younger audiences like the NA community. While the books are erotic yes, the way the characters think and their banter is a bit childish. This is absolutely fine, I'm just stating that it has a different feel to it then other adult romance books. less
