review 1: This is the beginning to other books. I kind of wished the author would of continued on a little further in the story before cutting off. Racheal is a girl who gets in a car wreck and because of a knock to the head remembers a past life and recognizes about 4 other people from that prior life. They end up hanging out together to find out what the deal is with this past life and how it is symetrical to their current lives. Oh and they all have paranormal powers from telekinects to telepathy and fire startng. I found this book to be very interesting and entertaining. My problem at first was the multiple conversations in the same paragraph with no indication the speaker has changed. I got used to it after awhile, and then it went a bit quicker. At first I had to s... moretop and re-read conversations to sort through who was saying what. I recommend this book even with the confustion as it was very interesting getting to know the characters and their trials and tribulations.
review 2: I really like this one. The author has crafted an intriguing mix of mystery, reincarnation, alternate history and suspense. I found the characters believable and the narrative both visual and imaginative, and the shifts between the Victorian era scenes and today work very well.The lead character, Rachel/Cassandra, seems totally real as she seeks to understand and act upon her recollections of a past life. She pulls you in immediately and makes the clever concept engaging. The action moves along quickly. To reveal any more of the plot would spoil it.Readers who like Victorian England settings, telepaths, secret societies, second chances on a grand scale and magick that's more adult than Harry Potter should enjoy this one. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens next in the series. less
