review 1: I was so excited to see a new Jane mystery, but this was "not my favorite" (code at our house for "I really hated it"). In book #10, Stephanie Barron has moved away from the cozy mystery I had come to appreciate. Peppered with sexual references and a bit more gruesome than her previous nine volumes, it lacks the restraint of Austins time and feels very 21st century. I'm still a fan, but if #11 disappoints I will be sticking to rereading her older books.
review 2: I found this to be not quite up to par with the previous 9 installments. The first couple HUNDRED pages didn't hold my attention very well, the seemed to drag and not have much of interest. After that, things picked up for the remaining third of the book, but the result just felt rushed. Guess I'll
... morestill give the 11th book a try, since I already bought it, but I'm not sure I'll continue with the series if this one is an indication of things to come. (It's not as if these are great literature anyway, but in general they have been fun. This one was just less fun.) less

Another good read for those of us who enjoy Jane Austin and enjoy mysteries.

It was entertaining at least to imagine JA encountering Byron in Brighton.
