review 1: As wild as it sounds, this is the most action-packed book I've read in a while. I don't know why I wasn't expecting this (I think I underrated the magical elements in this before picking it up) but it definitely took me by surprise. The heroine is wonderful, very pro-active and smart and the plot is ingenious, mixing elements of beloved novels (there's a lot of Austen) while still maintaining its own identity (I really enjoyed the different kinds of magic in this for example). This series also features a heroine with two sisters so we've got plenty of those sisterly moments that make me so happy. I can't wait to read the rest - not sure why I waited this long to read this!
review 2: This was a very cute, light, and charming story. It was the perfect novel to cu
... morerl up on the couch with and read in an afternoon, with the sunshine spilling in through the window while I followed Kat through a series of mischievous unladylike adventures. I especially enjoyed how magic was woven through a Regency era setting; so unique and wonderful. I thought Kat was a fun and bold character, and I particularly enjoyed her genuine interactions with her two older sisters. The book also contained a dash of mystery which rounded out this delightful story even more. I would have liked to have seen a lot more magic, and I also found the ending to be rather cluttered. However, this book was meant for a younger audience, and so for what it was, I thoroughly enjoyed this immersive experience that took me back to my own time as a child. less
