review 1: Extremely fun and fast-paced. I truly enjoyed this and read it in one day. It's great fun seeing Kat as a matchmaker as she resolves her sisters' romantic problems one by one with the help of magic. The villains are more fleshed out than in the first book too which is always a good thing and I loved the setting of Bath and all the references to Northanger Abbey. This is a really good series, I'm glad I have one more book to look forward to.
review 2: This book came very close to qualifying for my "did not finish" shelf. I rather wish I could give it 2.5 stars, but decided to err on the positive side. I really enjoy the concept of these books, but I find it very difficult to like the heroines. Kat in particular - which, as you might imagine, makes the majority o
... moref her escapades difficult to get through for me. I made the observation in my review of the first book that Kat's age might be a negative influence on her compelling-ness as a protagonist for me and the same holds true in this book. Several of the secondary characters are also annoying and 2-dimensional. I did like Lucy Wingate and Frederick. Now that the negative is out of the way, I thought the last 1/4 of the book was enjoyable. The climax was well done and I wish that the rest of the book had been that engaging. As with the first, I'm not sure I'll pick up the next volume. I think Sorcery and Cecilia ruined me for Regency magic stories and everything else just falls flat in comparison. less
