review 1: I am still lost in this guy's head so bear with me. my whole feeling right now is, holy mother fucking hell! my god! this woman, this author who has created this. she has taken me for a trip through insanity and reality. I am an emotional wreck right now. she is an evil, twisted genius. I feel like I have fallen into a trap. I've been to the asylum and come out alive but no where near sane. this is how writing is done. the power this book possesses scares me. venture in Jamie Henry's mind and life with utmost caution. read this slowly and thoroughly. and not before bed. or public outings. reader beware.
review 2: As with Charm & Strange, I love Stephanie Kuehn's writing so much--those spare sentences and crisp little descriptions. This is a tricky little story ... morethat telegraphs the big reveal a bit too early, but there are a few more minor twists that I liked. Kuehn's very good here at taking a fairly straightforward story and manipulating it so that bits and pieces are revealed very slowly. The mood is great, too. Creepy and foreboding. less
