review 1: I'm two thirds of the way through and am struggling to finish. I'm honestly confused as how it received such great reviews. Perhaps I'm just tired of the over dramatic and nonsensical plot twists or the weird sex scenes in front of others. I know I can do without one more reminder of the Sheva=bad nonsense, and it really annoys me that these guys are so helpless after living 500 years...you would think they could plan something without beating each other up.
review 2: This book brought a new element to the story where the female lead is the one tortured by deep seated dark guilt, instead of the other way around. It was refreshing. The plot was interesting, as well as the characters were fully developed. The writing was good, but not my favourite. I'd say
... more it meets expectations. Sometimes the plot dragged, because I can only read about how guilty a character feels so many times before I start to think, "Get over it already." I think that what is missing is the description of setting in terms of smell, touch, and feeling. Visual descriptions are not enough. The author made an effort of it only when she was attributing a space to a character, like projecting the character's traits to the space. That's not enough for me. Since I'm following the same characters through the book, whatever situation they find themselves in, I need to be there with them in the moment as though I were literally in the space with them. If I'm not then it's like I'm reading a second-hand account and I'm that far removed from the situation.Lastly, even though Ezeikel was really evil and delusional by this point in the book, I still felt really sorry for him. Kudos to Stephanie Rowe for making me feel sympathy for the villain. less

Probably one of my favorites of the three stories so far. This story is about Elijah and Ana.
