review 1: Always enjoy his books w/the Cotton Malone main character. I very much enjoyed this one as well. While they are stand alone books they do continue in order w/respect to what is happening w/main character and others. This was an interesting premise the author based the book on. Author, who originally was an attorney, now writes full time and he and his wife travel to all the locations where the books take place. He and his wife have created a foundation to foster interest in history, etc. so like Baldacci, they are committed to writing and making people more knowledgeable and a reason to read. I enjoy when authors take a topic from history and write a novel around it; Many do, and Steve Berry is one of them.
review 2: This was my first Steve Berry novel (
... moremy Dad recommended them to me). Pretty good overall. Historical fiction isn't my usual fare but this was an intriguing mix of Civil War/Lincoln/LDS Church. The book kept me good company on my recent trip to Colorado. I didn't realize the Cotton Malone character is a 'series' character. So, I've recently gotten my hands on a copy of the first Malone book, "The Templar Legacy." less
