review 1: I have written this before: Hamiltion's The Lock Artist was brilliant, a masterpiece. It's hard to fathom that the same writer churned this out. Alex McKnight and the whole cabin rental, trouble in Paradise thing has worn thin. The first few -- and I've read all -- were good. The last few, including this, just aren't good. Die A Stranger reads like it was done quickly ... ah, I don't want to hammer the novel, so I'll simply say I'll likely pass on No. 10 in the series, if there is one.
review 2: Another terrific addition to this mystery series that is mostly set in the Upper Peninsula, but, as with several of Steve Hamilton's latest books in this Alex McKnight series, features a lot of the lower peninsula of Michigan (the Mitten) as well. Steve Hamilton is a t
... moreerrifically talented writer, and the fact that he churns out a book a year is impressive. Alex McKnight is an appealing character, and I appreciate how the author routinely places his hero into realistic troublesome situations without Alex McKnight's entire life taking on a ridiculous implausibility (for example, how on God's green earth could Miss Marple stumble over all those dead bodies?? Just for the sake of the novel...). less
