review 1: While this is still a pretty light read, just like the first book, it carries more of a serious undertone as the characters uncover some dark machinations and pride politics that had my hair stand on end in places. The bad guys from the first book are back, and while the two lion shifters and white tiger shifter are new main characters, they are linked to the three lion shifters from the first book. I liked seeing those three guys again and finding out how they did. Hugh, the reluctant alpha, has suffered his father's abuse for years, and has always known he'd have to get away from him sooner or later. When the despot tries to make him mate with two women from a neighboring pride, Hugh knows it is time to go. He finds both of his mates on the way to safety, and now has to ... moreaccept the fact he is not only an alpha, but suddenly has a pride as well. I had to laugh at the way that came about, and enjoyed Hugh's struggle quite a bit. Kye is a white Bengal tiger and while he doesn’t want to fight, he will stand up for his mates. He is the typical 'weaker male' who can be found in so many of Stormy's books, but anyone who underestimates him based on his physical size is sorely misguided. He is very fierce when needed and not one to avoid confrontations – if he has no choice. Neumus is the third man in this dynamic trio, and has been looking for his mate for years. Now suddenly having two doesn’t bother him in the least, on the contrary, he is quick to take advantage of the variation and additional possibilities this adds to their bedroom activities.If you like a paranormal romance with different types of shifters trying to get along, if pride politics and dark villains with aspirations to rule the world are what you’re looking for, and if you enjoy hot bedroom interludes with three men figuring out how t please each other most, you will probably like this book.
review 2: A fun read. Though this is still a lighter read there are it's dark elements. Kye is the typical smaller mate for a Stormy Glenn read, small, feisty, protective of those he loves. Hugh is the big protector and alpha. Neumus is the third man in the relationship and he is a protector and supporter for the alpha. The three men have a quick and rough beginning. I look forward to more glimpses from them as the series continues. less
